Namulanda Perimeter Wall & Gate House
Location
Namulanda, Uganda
Scope
Residential project

About the project
Namulanda is a perimeter wall and gate house build, with the gate itself scheduled for a later stage — the wood for it had to be hand-picked to make sure we got the best quality. The timber is from Congo and is being dried completely so it gives the client roughly three years of solid durability once installed.
Before any of the wall went up, we flagged something the client hadn't noticed: one end of the site had a significant amount of soil sitting higher than the other, and a straight perimeter wall on its own would eventually get pushed over by the load. So we set the perimeter wall on a stone retaining wall designed to hold that soil in place — making the boundary safe and secure for both the client and the neighbours, and giving the gate house and future gate a stable line to sit on.
Scope of works
- Perimeter wall construction
- Stone retaining wall for soil stabilisation
- Gate house build
- Hand-picked Congolese hardwood, dried for the gate (installed at later stage)
